A Scottish rock band that started in Glasgow in 1977. The main members were Jim Kerr and Charlie Burchill. Other members were Ged Grimes, Cherisse Osei, Sarah Brown and Gordon Goudie. Their first concerts took place on the second day of Easter in 1977 at a pub in Glasgow, to support the homeless. They released 5 albums and sold about 60 million records. They also released a series of singles, with “Don't you forget about me”, the soundtrack of “Breakfast Club” movie being a highlight in 1985.
Simple Minds were the first to perform at the London extras of then-jailed Nelson Mandela
