Pink was born in Doylestown, Pennsylvania in 1979, while her father is half Irish and half German and her mother half German Jewish and half Lithuanian Jewish. Her real name is Alecia Beth Moore and she began singing from a young age. When she was fourteen, she picked the nick “Pink” from a character in the movie “Reservoir Dogs” and two years later, she formed the R&B band “Choice”, along with other two girls.
Pink’s first hit was “There You Go” and it was followed by the release of “Can’t Take Me Home”, her first album that came out in 2000. It became two times platinum, containing the songs “Most Girls” and “You Make Me Sick”. After winning the “Female New Artist of the Year at the Billboard Music Awards, she followed NSYNC on their tour and in 2001 she collaborated with Christina Aguilera, Lil’ Kim and Mýa for the release of “Lady Marmalade”, which was in the soundtrack of “Moulin Rouge!”. It became no. 1 in the USA and UK charts, it won the “Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals” Grammy Award and its video edition won the “Video of the Year” on MTV Video Music Award.
The second album “Missundaztood”, was released in 2001, with a more pop and rock sound. The album included the hits “Don’t Let Me Get Me”, “Just Like a Pill” and “Get the Party Started”. The latest, entered at the top 5 of the US chart, while its video gained two MTV Video Music Awards. The album is Pink’s most commercially successful record and she won a World Music Award. Before her third album, she toured with Lenny Kravitz and took part in the soundtrack of the movie “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle" in 2003. “Try this, came out in November of that year and the song “Trouble” brought to Pink one more Grammy Award. She continued touring and after a few collaborations, she recorded “I’m Not Dead” which came out in 2006. The album had not only pop but also soft rock and R&B influences.
In the following years, Pink toured in many countries and collaborated with artists like Justin Timberlake, Annie Lennox and others. Her fifth album “Funhouse” entered the top of the UK chart and reached no. 2 on the Billboard 200, including the top hit “So What”, along with “Please Don’t Leave Me” and “Sober”. It was followed by “Greatest Hits… So Far!!! in November of 2010, with the new top song “Raise Your Glass” and “Fuckin’ Perfect”, that reached the second place of that chart.
Pink’s sixth album “The Truth About Love” came out in 2012 and managed to reach the first place on the USA album charts, including the songs “Blow Me”, “Try” and “Just Give Me a Reason”, which also entered at the top. Her seventh studio album came out in October of 2017, under the name “Beautiful Trauma”. It was an instant success (no. 1 in more than 10 countries, including the USA and the UK). Pink continued with the “Beautiful Trauma World Tour”, in which she promotes her upcoming studio album.
