Le Butcherettes is a Mexican group that was formed by vocalist and guitarist Teresa Suárez Cosío, known as Teri Gender Bender, in 2007 in Guadalajara, Jalisco. When she found Auryn Jolene (drums) they began working together released their first EP in 2008, under the name “Kiss & Kill”.
During their live appearances, the duo used to wear old fashion clothing similar to the 50’s, along with stuff that depicted the women slavery and began attracting fans to Mexico. After Le Butcherettes won their first music awards Jolene abandoned the group and Bender went to L.A. and found another drummer. In the following years, a lot of changes happened to the formation among the drummer and the bassist position, while the group took part in various live events especially in Mexico.
Le Butcherettes’ first album was “Sin Sin Sin” which came out in May of 2011 and after that, they followed a US tour with bands like Deftones e.t.c. In 2012, Bender collaborated with Omar Rodríguez-López in the album “Octopus Kool Aid”, while she moved again to L.A. where they started a partnership. The group’s second album “Cry Is for the Flies” came out in May of 2014 and was followed by 2015’s “A Raw Youth” which received positive reviews. Le Butcherettes continued the live performances while they released a few more EPs.
